Under the leadership of the Ministry of Forest and Environment, and with the collaborative efforts of Youth Alliance for Environment- YAE , Practical Action in Nepal and Oxford Policy Management, the National Climate Summit was successfully organized on October 26, 2024, in Kathmandu. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Rt. Honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
This summit marks a key step in Nepal’s preparation for COP29, prioritizing inclusive and participatory approaches to climate action. It is believed that suggestions and feedback collected through discussions on seven thematic areas, including climate finance, loss and damage, mountainous regions, and climate and gender issues during the summit would help make Nepal’s agenda for COP29 even more strong and effective.
With diversified representation of different stakeholders from government, National and International organizations, youth, indigenous groups, and local communities, the summit is able to ensure every voice is heard in shaping Nepal’s climate commitments.
