About Project
To assess the status, causes, and consequences of illegal wildlife trade in Nepal, and to provide evidence-based policy and programmatic recommendations to strengthen national efforts in combating wildlife poaching and trafficking.

To determine the status, trends, and geographical distribution of illicit wildlife trade (e.g., wildlife seizures) across Nepal.

To identify key trade networks within Nepal and abroad, including origin, transit, and destination points.

To review the roles and effectiveness of relevant Government of Nepal agencies involved in combating illegal wildlife trade.

To provide actionable recommendations based on lessons learned from addressing wildlife poaching and trade of various species in Nepal.
Implemented under the Hariyo Ban Program / WWF Nepal, the project was conducted nationwide from May 2016 to December 2016 (8 months).
