About Project

To assess the status, causes, and consequences of illegal wildlife trade in Nepal, and to provide evidence-based policy and programmatic recommendations to strengthen national efforts in combating wildlife poaching and trafficking.

  • To determine the status, trends, and geographical distribution of illicit wildlife trade (e.g., wildlife seizures) across Nepal.

  • To identify key trade networks within Nepal and abroad, including origin, transit, and destination points.

  • To review the roles and effectiveness of relevant Government of Nepal agencies involved in combating illegal wildlife trade.

  • To provide actionable recommendations based on lessons learned from addressing wildlife poaching and trade of various species in Nepal.

Implemented under the Hariyo Ban Program / WWF Nepal, the project was conducted nationwide from May 2016 to December 2016 (8 months).
